Things to do in Nha Trang

There are many interesting Nha Trang activities that travelers can enjoy during their holiday. One of the first things people do on arrival in Nha Trang is to head straight down to the beach, but there are more things on offer here apart from soaking up the sun. Catering to all budget levels and preferences, you can also easily plan these activities to suit your time and pace.

Beaches

Nha Trang’s main beach is stunningly beautiful. Unfortunately, it’s grubby for three or four months a year as the wet season discharge from the nearby Cai River deposits a brown stain along the shore. If you’re traveling to Nha Trang expecting to get some surfing in (board riding that is), think again. Except during typhoon season, the water in the bay is blissfully calm. Even the unprotected beaches to the north and south rarely offer any surf.

Diving and snorkeling

Nha Trang Bay boasts 12,000 hectares of reef-filled waters known as Hon Mun Marine Protected Area. The majority of diving and snorkeling in Nha Trang is done here, and its shallow waters are one of the best places for beginners to learn how to dive in Vietnam. During the best diving months of April to October – especially during the optimal months of July to August – you can expect fair visibility and a wide variety of small colorful tropical fish (butterfly, box, moray eels, pufferfish) as well as beautiful coral.

Vinpearl Land Nha Trang

Vinpearl Amusement Park, situated on an island across the bay from Nha Trang Beach, is a large-scale theme park featuring water slides and games, a large aquarium, a wave pool, and a variety of rides. The Park is reached by the cable car that connects Nha Trang City to this island resort. The 3,320-metre long ride offers dazzling views of the bay, a promise of the fun-filled day that is to follow. The usual theme park rides are featured here too, from the speedy roller coaster to the gentle carousel rides for the young and not-so-young. Some games are housed in the artificial mountain arcade. For meals, Vinh Xanh restaurant serves a variety of fast food including fruit juices and drinks. Nearer to the beach, the Food Village offers a set menu and a-la-carte dishes from its terrace overlooking the sea.

Mud baths

The mud baths at Thap Ba natural hot springs are a healthy and fun way to spend a few hours. The best time of day to go is between 12:00 and 15:00 when they are less crowded. You will be offered single or shared mud baths and obviously, the single ones are more expensive yet the communal tubs are more fun. Shower off in mineral-rich water afterward or let the mud dry on you first for additional benefits before showering.
